Most common Tecnogas built-in faults
- A hob burner dies after you light it: the per-burner safety sensor needs cleaning or replacement. We repair it; we never bypass it.
- Ignition not working on one or more burners: a damp electrode, a failed generator, or a crack in the ceramic around the electrode.
- Cracked glass surface: a hairline crack grows with every heat cycle. Using it afterwards is unsafe and it must be replaced.
- Water or grease under the hob: the seal around the frame has failed, so liquids reach the taps and accelerate their wear.
- The built-in oven will not heat, or bakes unevenly: thermostat, heating element, or fan.
- The built-in oven cuts out after a while: usually poor rear ventilation, with heat returning onto the board.

- 1 Protect the perimeter with guard strips on the stone before any removal.
- 2 Isolate gas and electricity and verify the isolation.
- 3 Lift the hob with suction tools, not a screwdriver at the edges — that is what scratches.
- 4 Inspect on the bench, not inside the cut-out, so we can see everything.
- 5 Refit with a new seal if the old one has failed.
- 6 Leak test with bubble solution on every joint.

Can you remove the hob without scratching the worktop?
Yes — with guard strips and suction tools instead of levering at the edges. That is the main difference between a specialist and a general technician on built-in work.
There is a hairline mark in the glass — can I wait until it grows?
No. A hairline crack extends with every heat cycle, and using the hob after that is unsafe. It needs replacing.
A hob burner dies on its own — same fault as a cooker?
The same principle (a safety sensor), but the sensor position and lead length differ on a hob, which is why we ask for the burner position.
My built-in oven cuts out after half an hour — why?
Usually insufficient rear ventilation in the column, so heat returns onto the board and a protection cuts in. We inspect the cabinet, not just the oven.
Water got under the hob — is that a problem?
